Fall is one of our busiest times here in Caledonia, and at the Old Caledonian B&B. Here are our top 10 reasons to come for a visit soon:
- Caledonia’s Annual Pumpkin Fest! October 14. Our largest event of the year; we’ll be featuring an available Pumpkin Fest themed dinner full of fall flavor.
- Fall is perfect weather for hiking the nearby trails at Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson Shut-Ins, Hughes Mountain, Buford Mountain and Taum Sauk.
- The leaf-peeping is phenomenal!!!
- The Battle of Pilot Knob Reenactment. September 22-24. The battle that turned the tide of the Civil War in Missouri is retold on the battlefield itself! Book early- we will sell out for this event.
- During the Battle of Pilot Knob reenactment, we will be hosting an incredible Civil War Era Field Medicine Demo featuring David and Teresa Chuber, historians, educators and experts in the methods and medicines of that era. Their free presentation, open to the public, is very entertaining and educational—don’t miss it! See you in our gazebo Friday September 22 at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm; and Saturday September 23 at 10:00 am.
- Homemade Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream at the Old Village Mercantile!!!
- Our seasonal fall menus will be bursting with the tastes of the harvest. In addition to our included breakfasts and teatimes, be sure to add a dinner prepared by Jon during your stay.
